Mercedes S550 catalytic converter regeneration
It is an obvious fact that every car is subject to wear and tear over time, and some of its components require repair or regeneration to maintain full efficiency. That is why car owners try to keep their cars in good condition by performing regular inspections and repairs when necessary. This was also the case with the Mercedes W221 C221186 S 500 L / S 550 L 4MATIC (63V) from 2009, which was regenerated.
Preliminary inspection found that the catalysts were not in poor condition, but displayed a performance error due to wear. Due to the fact that the car was unusual with the makings of a classic, it was decided to do everything possible to preserve its unique character. The owner of the car decided to regenerate the catalyst based on the original housings, which allowed to maintain the appearance and parameters as from the factory.
Unfortunately, the costs associated with replacing four separate cartridges were high, so it was decided to use two AWG Polonez metal catalyst cartridges with a standard capacity of 500 cpsi and a diameter of 125 mm. Originally, there were four ceramic inserts in the catalytic converter, two for the catalytic converter and the lambda probe socket between them. The use of two, but longer, cartridges required the lambda probe socket to be welded a few centimeters back. This decision turned out to be the right one, because after the regeneration, the errors related to the catalytic converter disappeared and the car regained its former efficiency.
The regeneration of the Mercedes W221 C221186 S 500 L / S 550 L 4MATIC (63V) catalyst from 2009 with the Euro 4 emission standard was extremely important to the owner of this car. Thanks to this treatment, his car retained its full efficiency and regained its original character. Attention to detail, such as preserving the appearance of the catalytic converter, is especially important to many owners who value the beauty and elegance of their cars.
It should be emphasized that the regeneration of the Mercedes W221 C221186 S 500 L / S 550 L 4MATIC (63V) catalyst not only improved the efficiency of the car, but was also beneficial for the environment. Emission standard.
