6 year old car with defective catalytic converter? Impossible, probably the probe is failing.... We will change the probe and it will be git. Probe replaced and still the same thing. I often encounter such a situation, I warn against hasty replacement of probes, supposedly the easiest, fastest, maybe it will work. Unfortunately, in most cases probes are replaced unnecessarily. Then the catalytic converter goes to me for replacement of the cartridge. After cutting open the housing, you can see that the cartridge is damaged and swamped with some kind of mess, as if some oil got into the catalytic converter. The damaged cartridge was removed, the original GPF filter was left in place, as it did not look the worst. The car after 2015 so in accordance with the art, a Euro 6 cartridge was used. The cartridge quite a large diameter for a 1.5 engine, because 130 mm is quite a lot. On the other hand, the higher the Euro, the lower the capacity, because the CPSI parameter increases. For Euro 6 in gasoline it is 600 cpsi, so this has to be corrected with increased surface area so the diameter increases as well. As usual, a metal core insert was used and everything was tig welded in place of the original welds.
