CATALYST REGENRATION AUDI A6 3.0 tfsi 2008 ( 2009 model ) 290 horses
Car with a mileage of 265,000. km. The catalytic converter inserts are intact but already burnt. This is absolutely not a symptom of engine malfunction, normal wear and tear. It would be different if they were melted or clogged, which is what some customers expect, suggesting that now there will be a difference in power with new cartridges. And they are right, but the melting or clogging of the inserts does not happen on its own and is caused by incorrect combustion of the mixture or oil getting into the exhaust system. In such a case, in addition to replacing the cartridges, the cause of the damage must also be removed. In this particular case, as I mentioned, everything was fine with the katas apart from natural wear and tear. The client decided on sports cartridges with a capacity of 200 cpsi. The car is from 2008, so in most cases I would use Euro 4 inserts, but the model is 2009 and the vin number shows that it is already Euro 5. In terms of fit, the inserts with a diameter of 110 mm turned out to be perfect - https://kat-eko.com/pl/sportowe/369-2130-wklad-katalizatora-sportowy-rfc-5904347540746.html#/47-srednica_wkladu-110_mm/58-norma_euro-euro_5/61-przepustowosc_cpsi-200. Almost perfect…. They were missing by several hundredths of a millimeter to fit into the original housings. It was possible to use inserts of a smaller diameter of 100 mm and weld them from the inside, but this would reduce the surface area responsible for catalyzing exhaust gases and thus reduce the diameter of the passage by 9 percent, so we are thinking... Metal shrinks under the influence of cold, so let's get freezer inserts ( and now let the tax office accuse me of the validity of purchasing the freezer for company J). The inserts shrunk and we pushed them inside quickly because the friction heats them up and they expand, but it worked and we didn't really need to weld them from the inside, they fit so tightly, but to be sure they were beautifully covered with TIG. Then we weld the cut housings together and it's ready. The inserts that have been installed are an alternative to standard inserts and are recommended for increasing power. They have a very durable structure with three centers, which is characterized by high resistance to increased combustion temperature. For standard factory settings, standard capacity cartridges will suffice - https://kat-eko.com/pl/uniwersalne/303-1473-wklad-katalizatora-uniwersalny-euro-5-awg-5904347525637.html#/37-dlugosc_wkladu-100_mm/47-srednica_wkladu-110_mm/58-norma_euro-euro_5.
