SUBARU OUTBACK 2.5 2021 CATALYST REGENERATION
We received catalysts for Subaru from 2021 for regeneration. The accident car and the ceramic insert cracked from the stresses of the impact. No damage was visible on the exhaust, and yet it got into the catalyst and, as it turned out later, the gpf filter too.
By the way, Subaru invested a lot in this model in exhaust heat shields, almost the entire element that came to us was covered with them, and that's almost half of the exhaust. Fortunately, the car was almost new, so there were no problems with the screws and covers unscrewed in a few minutes.
After cutting it, you can see that two larger pieces of the cartridge remained "in place" and about 30 percent crumbled so much that it went further into the exhaust and, as it turned out later, it sandblasted and damaged the gpf cartridge, which also needed to be replaced. After taking measurements, we selected a catalyst insert with the EURO 6 600 CPSI exhaust emission standard with dimensions of 105/100 MM. As a gpf filter cartridge, we used a metal 400 cpsi cartridge with dimensions of 135/110/100 mm made by the manufacturer on special order because they do not have one in stock in their offer. It turned out really well, the insert fit perfectly thanks to a perfectly prepared 3D scan, which I made as a service at RM Motors.
Usually, as soon as possible, we cut and weld in place of the original welds to leave as little trace as possible and the exhaust still looked as original as possible, and in this case, after installing the covers, you can not see any trace of interference, which does not mean that you can let go of the quality because you can't see.
