REGENERATION OF THE VOLVO XC60 T6 3.0 CATALYTIC CONVERTER, YEAR 2010
The catalytic converter, which reduces exhaust emissions, is subjected to high temperatures and intense chemical reactions in a car with such a large engine. This is normal in cars with powerful engines, where higher power leads to faster wear and tear of exhaust system components. Typically, the replacement process involves cutting open the housing and removing the used insert. It was challenging, but with the help of a few tools, we managed to extract the old insert and prepare the housing for regeneration.
After careful measurements of the housing, we selected a new insert with a 125 mm diameter, which fit perfectly. We carefully welded it from the inside to ensure that no exhaust gases leaked through gaps and that the insert was securely fastened, eliminating potential unwanted noise.
The new 400 cpsi insert meets EURO 5 standards, just like the original. You can find more information via the link:
Finally, we welded everything back together using the TIG method, ensuring the housing looked as neat as it did when it was first made.
Below, we present the entire regeneration process of the catalytic converter in the 2010 Volvo XC60 T6 3.0.
1. The catalytic converter before regeneration
2. Removal of the used insert.
3. Fitting of the new 125 mm RFC metal insert, compliant with EURO 5 emissions standards and with a throughput of 400 cpsi.
4.Welding the housing and preparing the catalytic converter for shipment.
If your Volvo needs a catalytic converter regeneration, contact us to find out the benefits of replacing worn or damaged ceramic inserts with new, more durable RFC metal inserts. Catalytic converter regeneration is not only an essential part of vehicle maintenance, but also an effective way to protect the environment and maintain your vehicle's efficiency and value.
