Catalyst 127 mm FIA 100 cpsi 700 hp Group N QCAT
CAT125R1-3
Sport catalytic converters are characterized by increased capacity relative to the original factory-installed serial one. They are also usually more resistant to higher combustion temperatures. In general, sport catalytic converters can be divided into two groups due to their application. The first with a capacity of 100 cpsi is mainly intended for motorsports and all kinds of rally cars, while the second with a capacity of 200-300 cpsi is intended for installation in hobby tuned cars. Each of these groups is independently subject to the emission standards it must meet. By design, the sports catalytic converter has a smaller catalytic surface area, which results from increased throughput and therefore less efficient catalysis of exhaust gases. Therefore, the best compromise between performance and efficiency of the catalyst will be one with a capacity of 200 cpsi. It will have enough catalytic cartridge surface area to meet the relevant standards and at the same time will not be a brake on efficiency gains. In addition, a 200 cpsi catalytic converter will produce adequate pressure in the exhaust system, which is necessary for proper engine operation. On the other hand, catalytic converters with a capacity of 100 cpsi, due to the very small surface area of the catalytic cartridge, will not be the best option for cars intended to run on public roads for this will be an excellent choice for cars running in rallies or on various types of race tracks. The throughput of 100 cpsi provides almost no brake on the exhaust gases coming out and is decent for cars heavily rebuilt, where only power counts without compromise.
